I agree that the problem is how people use the tool, not the tool itself (font in this case) But I disagree that it's particularly good for much of anything (beyond maybe a childish card or something), and I disagree that somehow using it is the first step to being a typeface designer. You could say the same about literally any other font by that logic, there's nothing special about Comic Sans. It's just a very popular, very hated, and kind of ugly font, that can be appropriate only for specific, childish or silly use cases.

7:08 well obviously compared to Garamond it's easier to see on small screens, Garamond is a serif font and Comic Sans is a sans serif font, swap Comic Sans for literally any sans serif and Garamond for literally any serif and the same will hold. Generally, sans serifs are better for screens and serifs are better for print.
